Education Groups
A wide variety of subject areas can be covered within the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Visit the world’s first passenger railway tunnel at Grosmont and view how steam works in our engine sheds or take a walk along the historic rail trail (illustrated booklet available from any of the Railway’s shops). Guided talks and packed lunches can be supplied, advance notice is required and additional charges may be applicable. Please ask at time of booking.
Group Rates
We offer 20% discount off standard fares to prebooked groups of 20 or more except in high season July to September.
School/Education Groups receive discounts all year round.
We welcome group visits to our special event days however DUE TO THE HIGH LEVEL OF DEMAND NO SEAT RESERVATION OR DISCOUNT can be given on SPECIAL EVENT days.
One Coach, Courier or Tour Guide is permitted to travel free of charge per group booking.
A minimum of 7 days notice is required for a group booking together with a 50% deposit. Please book for your MAXIMUM number. You will only be charged the balance for the number that actually travel on the day. The balance is due on the day of travel.

Onboard Dining Services and Special Charters
For an unforgettable journey the NYMR operates a number of luxury dining trains. The Moorlander Sunday lunch service runs throughout our operating year offering a superb three course meal in the delightful surrounding of Pullman/Restaurant style dining carriages. Alternatively a private charter can offer that extra special touch ranging from a simple afternoon tea to a full five course menu or champagne reception. Toilets
Toilets are located at all stations and on trains. Disabled and Baby Changing facilities are located at Pickering and Grosmont Stations. No toilets at Whitby or Newtondale halt.
Gift Shops
Shops are located at Pickering, Goathland, Grosmont Stations and Grosmont Locomotive Depot. They each offer a wide selection of souvenirs, guide books, gifts, postcards and confectionery.
