Why Visit Sir Nigel Gresley?

No. 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley is a renowned member of the LNER A4 Pacific class, designed by the celebrated railway engineer Sir Nigel Gresley. Built in 1937 at the London and North Eastern Railway’s (LNER) Doncaster Works, the locomotive was one of 35 streamlined A4s designed for high-speed express services. Originally entering service on the East Coast Main Line, No. 60007 quickly gained recognition for its sleek, aerodynamic design, which was both visually striking and highly functional, reducing air resistance and enabling exceptional performance.

Laura Strangeway, CEO of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway

"A true rockstar of the rails, Sir Nigel Gresley returns this autumn. We're delighted to welcome this stunning streamlined locomotive back to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, and we know our visitors are going to love seeing her in action across the North York Moors National Park once again."
